The following is a list of awards and prizes available to students studying in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.


Graduation prizes

Prizes in French Studies

  • James Robert Inch Memorial Prize (monetary award): A prize awarded to the graduating student with the highest overall average in French Studies
  • Prize of the Ambassador of France (book prize): Awarded to an outstanding student in French Studies
  • Prize of the Ambassador of Switzerland (book prize): Awarded to the graduating student with the highest average in their Senior Year in French Studies
  • Prize of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures: Awarded to a graduating student for outstanding achievement in French Studies

Prizes in German Studies

  • Prize of the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany (book prize): Awarded for overall high achievement in Germa
  • Prize of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures: Awarded to a student with outstanding achievement in German
  • Prize of the Ambassador of Switzerland (book prize): Awarded to an outstanding student in German

Prizes in Hispanic Studies

  • Prize of the Ambassador of Spain (book prize): Awarded to the graduating student with the highest overall average in Hispanic Studies
  • Prize of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures: Awarded to a graduating student for outstanding achievement in Hispanic Studies

Prizes in Japanese Studies

  • Prize of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures: Awarded to a graduating student for outstanding achievement in Japanese Studies

Prizes in Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

  • Prize of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures: Awarded to an outstanding student majoring in modern languages, literatures, and cultures

Entrance scholarships

Jean and Francis Chubb Scholarships

The Jean and Francis Chubb Scholarships are awarded to entering students who have indicated that they wish to pursue a BA major/honours in French, or BA major/honours in Modern Languages, Literatures & Culture in French. Please see the University's scholarships page for more information.
