Mount Allison University is committed to making its website an inclusive space.
Our goal is to meet or exceed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA standard and we will continue to work with partners to ensure ongoing updates and improvements to website accessibility.
While the Province of New Brunswick does not currently have its own accessibility legislation, implementing such legislation is a recommendation in its recent Disability Action Plan, with a target date of the end of 2021. This legislation will likely be similar to Ontario and Nova Scotia’s legislation, which requires that websites be compliant with the World Wide Web Consortium’s accessibility standard, as noted above.
Improving the accessibility and usability of the Mount Allison website benefits everyone and it is our collective responsibility to ensure equitable access to the site for all members our community. Best practices on building accessible pages is also included as part of content editor training.
