Fine Arts Courses and Programs
The Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts offers degree programs in Fine Arts, Art History, and a Minor in Museum and Curatorial Studies.
Degree Programs
Fine Arts
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is a specifically designed studio art degree with a built-in Art History minor. The majority of the required 120 credits must be from Fine Arts and Art History courses, with two student-selected electives per year. This degree program is for students who wish to study primarily art studio courses. More detailed information about Fine Arts degrees and courses can be found in the Academic Calendar.
Bachelor of Arts Major in Fine Arts
The Bachelor of Arts Major in Fine Arts degree is earned with 60 credits from Fine Arts studio and Art History courses. The other 60 credits can (other than required distribution credits) be from any other university program (such as Psychology, History, English, for example). This degree program is recommended for students who wish to Major in Fine Arts, but who also wish to study other university disciplines. Bachelor of Arts Minor in Fine Arts
The Bachelor of Arts Minor in Fine Arts degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue a few Fine Arts studio courses while majoring in another university degree program. A Fine Arts Minor can also be earned with another degree (e.g. Science or Commerce), but students should consult with the Fine Arts Program Advisor in order to properly plan the minor requirements. Art History
Bachelor of Arts Major in Art History
The Bachelor of Arts Major in Art History degree is 60 credits earned from Art History courses as well as complementary courses in Arts and Letters and Humanities, chosen in consultation with the Art History Program Advisor. Bachelor of Arts Minor in Art History
The Bachelor of Arts Minor in Art History is 24 credits earned from Art History courses. A more detailed description of Art History Degree programs and courses can be found here.
Museum and Curatorial Studies Minor
The Museum and Curatorial Studies Minor is 24 credits earned from specific Art History courses, and students wishing to earn this Minor should consult with the Art History Program Advisor. A detailed description about the Museum and Curatorial Studies Minor can be found here.

Interested in Applying to Fine Arts?
There are three steps required to apply to the Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts:
- Apply for admission to Mount Allison University.
- Complete our online Fine Arts Applicant Questionnaire.
- For all Fine Arts Degree programs (BFA, BA Major and BA Minor), submit a portfolio by the February 15 deadline. Submit portfolios by WeTransfer, Google Drive, or Dropbox, with links sent to finearts@mta.ca.
