Be a Teaching Assistant (TA) responsible for tutorials (excludes marking only) in at least one Sociology course.
Participate in at least one of the TA orientation sessions offered by the department
Enhance the teaching of a course in some concrete way with consultation and under the supervision of the course instructor.
Examples of enhancements: TA could present a short segment of supplementary material in a lecture class; prepare a short hand-out featuring problems of a type observed to cause difficulties in the tutorial; contribute to the creation of tutorial material; offer a help session for essay preparation or a pre-test or pre-exam review session.
Contribute to the development of a collaborative classroom culture and anti-oppressive pedagogy and generally demonstrate good judgement, mature teaching ability, and involvement in curriculum enhancement.
Submit this application by the last day of classes of the student's graduating year.
Certificates are awarded each year during Convocation Weekend.
A record is kept on file of those awarded certificates; with the student's permission, this information may be used in letters of reference written on the student's behalf.
