Some of our best memories of our time at Mount Allison were when we gathered as classmates. Whether it was at the pub, Jennings, Mel’s, or our residence rooms, gatherings such as these are a large part of our Mount A experience. The pandemic has made large gatherings and celebrations such as our annual Reunion & Convocation impossible for the past year. However, that does not mean we can’t break out our Garnet and Gold and celebrate together virtually!
Mount Allison Alumni Engagement is excited to announce that due to the generosity of our sponsor Stewart McKelvey, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 there will be a Virtual MtA Kitchen Party and Reunion featuring the Barra MacNeils!
Some of us are lucky enough to have been there in 1987 when the Barra MacNeils played their first official concert at McConnell Hall. Our classmates, Stewart ('87), Kyle ('85), Sheamus ('84), and their sister Lucy ('91), who was still in high school at the time, wowed us. Of course, now the Barra MacNeils are widely regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world.
The Barra MacNeils have enjoyed an outstanding recording and touring career for close to 35 years. The Barra MacNeils' live concert experience brings so much to the stage: multiple lead vocalists, beautiful sibling harmonies, top drawer instrumental prowess on a wide variety of acoustic, stringed, percussion and wind instruments blended with dancing, storytelling, Gaelic songs, and a journey through an ancient culture.
This free concert will kick off at 8 p.m. (ADT). All alumni, students, staff and friends are invited! Following the band's performance, there will be a virtual Alumni Reunion on Kumospace, where classmates can catch-up with one another, share old stories, and have a few laughs in a casual setting.
