Qualifications

(Only if you are not registered in a Physics course, list most advanced Science course you are registered for)

Are you doing the Physics TA Certificate Program?

(see the student information page for details)

The minimum requirements to work as a Physics TA are as follows

  • MtA good academic standing

  • Registration in at least one MtA course during the term

  • CUM GPA of 2.7 or higher with a grade of at least B- in any course you TA

  • Canadian SIN number before you can work

Do you meet all 4 of these requirements?

(If no, email cpettipa@mta.ca to ask about exceptions.)

Notes:

Hours for a Physics TA vary from 20 to 40 per term and normally include lab marking. If 20 hours per term or less are expected a * indicates smaller work load. Combining two * jobs will be considered for experienced TAs, subject to availability, for example B2+B3 might be combined and would have a high marking load. Work is logged and paid by the hour.

Marking must be done in a timely manner and in particular undergraduate TAs must complete marking before the exam period.

Marking Only and Help Center jobs are more independent so a higher a GPA and experience is normally required.

Job offers are schedule specific so email cpettipa@mta.ca if you discover a conflict after you have applied or if you have questions.
