Partner family application form

The MASSIE partner family application for summer 2024 is now open.  The information you provide on this application will assist staff from the MASSIE program  in matching your family with two MASSIE students for the duration of the summer program.

The summer 2024 MASSIE students arrive in Sackville on May 10 and depart on August 7 2024.  There are 14 Japanese university students that will join this summer program.  There will be a welcome reception in late May/early June for all partner families and students to meet one another.

MASSIE partner families are asked to meet their students at least once per month until the end of the summer (3-4 times in total).

Meetings can include — but are not limited to:

  • a family meal at home
  • a birthday party at home/cottage
  • an evening walk
  • a shopping trip to Moncton
  • an ice-cream run to Amherst
  • a day-trip to the beach
  • a weekend get-away to another Maritime location

The purpose of the partner family initiative is two-fold:

  • for the MASSIE students to be introduced to and included in ordinary family activities to learn about local culture
  • to provide local families with an opportunity to learn more about Japan through friendly exchange at a personal level with two of our visiting MASSIE students

In the event that more families than are required apply, the MASSIE coordinator will assign students according to preferences indicated on their application forms.

For additional inquiries, please contact the program coordinator, Emily Ahmadvand, by telephone at (506) 364-2124, or by e-mail at intpa@mta.ca
