MOUNT ALLISON ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMS

If you meet Mount Allison's academic requirements, but don't meet our English proficiency requirements, you may be offered conditional admission.

If you're offered conditional admission, you can enroll in one of our English pathway programs designed for students who need extra time and training to meet our English proficiency requirements, and who would like to benefit from additional transition time and academic preparation before full-time study.

There are two program options to help you meet the requirements, depending on your level of English:

  • English Summer Pathway Program (June-August)
This program is offered during the summer. It includes classes in English and academic skills plus cultural trips and activities.
  • English Academic Bridging Program (EAB) (September-May)
This program is offered during the academic year. You'll be enrolled as a full-time Mount Allison student. You'll take three regular Mount Allison courses each term and two EAB courses, in English and academic skills.

Once you successfully complete one of Mount Allison's English language programs, you will get unconditional admission to Mount Allison (if you meet our academic requirements). No additional TOEFL or IELTS tests will be required.

Other options

You can also successfully complete English language university-preparatory studies at one of Mount Allison's English language training partners:

You can also continue your English studies independently to raise your IELTS/TOEFL score and submit your improved results to our admission office for consideration at admissions@mta.ca

If you meet Mount Allison's academic requirements, but can't provide proof of English proficiency, you may be offered conditional admission.

Please note: meeting the minimum English proficiency requirements does not guarantee admission to Mount Allison.
