Sexualized Violence Prevention and Education at Mount Allison
Sexualized violence prevention is ongoing work and everyone in the Mount Allison community has a role to play in creating a campus where people feel respected, supported, and safe.
Throughout the fall, Mount Allison’s Student Life office continues to offer opportunities for students to learn more about consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and ways to support one another.
Seeds of Change Bystander Intervention Training
The Seeds of Change Bystander Intervention training is available again this year to all Mount Allison students, faculty, and staff at no cost.
Developed with Sexual Violence New Brunswick, the Seeds of Change Bystander Intervention training is a valuable tool in raising awareness about sexualized violence and empowering individuals to take action. This training has been proven to be a successful tool in helping to raise awareness and encourage individuals to feel confident intervening when possible.
All members of the University community are encouraged to participate. To register at no cost, follow the steps below using your MtA email address and use the coupon code provided:

Looking ahead, prevention and harm-reduction efforts will continue throughout the fall, including work connected to Halloween, focusing on creating safer environments and harms reduction.

Support is available
Everyone has a role in practicing consent, challenging harmful behaviour, and responding with care. This work also requires listening to those affected, addressing barriers to support, and continuing to strengthen education, and accessible services across campus.
If you or someone you know has been affected by sexualized violence, support is available. You do not need to make a formal report to access support or discuss your options.
For prevention resources, contact Rene Ross, Sexualized Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator, at sveducation@mta.ca.
For support and information about your options for reporting, contact Jade Lister, Sexualized Violence Response Consultant, at svcomplaint@mta.ca.
