Rob Robichaud Vantage Airport Group Scholarships announced at Mount Allison
Funds help support Aviation students
SACKVILLE, NB — Mount Allison University Aviation students Ashna Rolle from Nassau, Bahamas and Nathan Price from Moncton, NB have each been awarded a $5,000 Rob Robichaud Vantage Airport Group Scholarship in Aviation.
Jointly funded by the Vantage Airport Group and Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM), this is the third year the scholarships have been awarded to students enrolled in Mount Allison’s Bachelor of Science (Aviation) Program. The scholarship is named in honour of the late Edgar (Rob) Robichaud, past CEO of the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport, retired RCAF lieutenant-colonel, well-known community leader, and past board member for several Moncton-area organizations.
Rolle, a first-year Aviation student says, “I am honoured to have received this scholarship from Vantage Airport Group and YQM. I appreciate the value your groups places on helping aspiring students like myself with their education. I look forward to assisting another aspiring student in the near future.”
Price is a fourth-year BSc Aviation student with a minor in geography and says that becoming a pilot was a childhood dream.
“I am grateful to both Vantage Airport Group and YQM for funding this scholarship. Not only are they funding part of my education, they are funding my passion and I want to thank them for their generous support,” says Price.
Now in its 12th year, Mount Allison’s BSc in Aviation, offered in partnership with Moncton Flight College, has been one of the fastest growing degree programs at the University. From this September, the program has also expanded to include a Bachelor of Commerce with Aviation.
“Vantage Airport Group and YQM are valued partners of Mount Allison. Students in Aviation take on an additional financial burden while studying as their tuition includes not only their academic courses at the University, but also the cost of flight school at Moncton Flight College,” says Dr. Amanda Cockshutt, Dean of Science at Mount Allison. “These scholarships offer significant financial benefit to our students, and also recognize their academic and flight training success. We are grateful to both Vantage and the Greater Monton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport for their investment in and recognition of our students.”
The Rob Robichaud Vantage Airport Group Scholarship in Aviation was first awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year, available to full-time students in, or entering, the Bachelor of Science (Aviation) degree program. The scholarship has been awarded to two students per year at a value of $5,000 each.
