SACKVILLE, NB — Mount Allison University has once again been named the #1 undergraduate university in Canada by Maclean’s magazine in its 2026 University Rankings, published October 14, 2025.

This marks the 26th time Mount Allison has earned the top spot — more than any other undergraduate university in the country. The University also placed first in both faculty awards and library expenses, second in student awards, and third in both reputational survey and scholarships & bursaries.

“Being recognized once again as Canada’s top undergraduate university reflects the collective commitment of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni,” says President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ian Sutherland. “Mount Allison offers a transformative learning experience — one that inspires curiosity, creates meaningful connections, and prepares our students to lead and adapt in a rapidly changing world”.

Mount Allison’s continued success is rooted in its small class sizes, close-knit community, and hands-on learning opportunities, including undergraduate research, paid internships, and study abroad opportunities. These experiences give students a well-rounded, global perspective and prepare them well for their career path.

“This recognition reflects the heart of Mount Allison — a supportive, connected community where students are encouraged to grow, explore, and excel,” Sutherland says. “We’re deeply grateful to our alumni and supporters who continue to champion this spirit of excellence.”

Notably, all of the Maple League of Universities member schools (Acadia, Bishop’s, Mount Allison, and St. Francis Xavier) were ranked in Maclean’s top ten.

Mount Allison will host its annual Fall Open House on Friday, November 7, 2025, welcoming prospective students and their families to campus. The event features presentations by admissions and student services staff, faculty lectures, and sessions for parents and guardians.

The 2026 University Rankings appear in the November issue of Maclean’s, available now on newsstands and online.
