Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship - Department of Religious Studies

The Department of Religious Studies at Mount Allison University invites applications for a postdoctoral teaching fellowship (August 2026 to April 2027) in the area of Asian religions.  

 Candidates are required to have a PhD in a relevant field, with expertise in Buddhist Studies. Additional research interest in areas such as gender studies, material culture, ritual studies, environmental ethics, or Chinese religions is desired.  

The Candidate should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and have an appreciation for the Liberal Arts context.  Five courses in total will be taught over the calendar year including:  

RELG 1681: Quest for Enlightenment: The Search for Perfection in Asian Religions 

RELG 3101: Buddhism  

RELG 3411: Gender Issues in Eastern Religions 

Two additional courses will be scheduled, depending on the candidate’s area of expertise.  

The successful candidate shall also contribute to the general research culture and  activities of the Department.
