Position description

MOUNT ALLISON UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

The Department of Economics at Mount Allison University invites applications for a full-time two-year position as McKenna School of Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) Post-Doctoral Fellow in Economics. Candidates should have or be near completion of a PhD in Economics. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a promising research profile. We invite applications from scholars in all fields of economics.

The fellow will be expected to teach a three-credit second-year course and a three-credit third- or fourth-year course each year, one in the Fall term and one in the Winter term. It is expected that the second-year course be in public policy and the third- or fourth-year course be in an economics area of interest to the applicant that would appeal to students in philosophy, politics, and economics. Examples include, but are not limited to Public Finance, Normative Economics, and History of Economic Thought. The McKenna School Post-Doctoral Fellow is also expected to mentor undergraduate students by exposing them to new ideas and perspectives, sharing their research through public talks, and creating opportunities for networking.

The appointment will commence July 1, 2024, subject to budgetary approval. Submissions should include a letter of application with curriculum vitae and a teaching dossier (including, but not limited to, a brief statement of teaching philosophy and a summary of teaching experience). Long-listed candidates will be contacted subsequently to submit three letters of reference, and a sample of writing.

Completed applications should be sent to:
