Biography

I am fascinated by how microorganisms function the molecular and cellular scales, and how microbial activity influences large scale Earth-system processes.
Our research focuses on marine microbes—particularly phytoplankton—and combines advanced omics techniques (e.g. subcellular proteomics), cell culturing, and oceanographic field work, to explore microbial physiology and biogeochemical roles.
Our lab embraces a curiosity-driven and frugal science philosophy, prioritizing open-access tools and software to promote accessible and equitable research. Our research takes place in the ocean (e.g. onboard research vessels), the laboratory, and high-performance computers. Learn more at https://www.jabrelab.com/
Outside the lab, I enjoy being in the woods, foraging and cooking.
