MtA Remembers Service, Nov. 10

03 Nov 2026
The University will hold a remembrance service on Nov. 10 at 12 p.m. in Tweedie Hall to learn, reflect, and remember those who served and sacrificed during times of war

Mount Allison University will honour the memory and legacy of fallen Canadians, veterans, and current service members on Tuesday, Nov. 10. All students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to MtA Remembers — a service in Tweedie Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 12 p.m.

The service will offer an opportunity to learn about the significance of Remembrance Day in Canada while recognizing that people experience and understand remembrance in different ways. It will also acknowledge the contributions of people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds who have served during times of war and recognize that many members of the Mount Allison community are affected by conflicts — both past and present — around the world.

Through reflections from members of the University community, the service will create space to consider the impact of conflict and the role each of us can play in building a more peaceful future.

The service will also include an Indigenous welcome and perspective and reflections from members of the Mount Allison community. The Last Post will be played by Music student Matthew Mulvihill, followed by a moment of pause and the laying of a wreath in the Atrium of the Student Centre, where the plaques honouring those from Mount Allison who died in WWI, WWII, the Boer War, and the Korean War are displayed outside of Tweedie Hall.

A video featuring the annual reading of the names of the members of the Mount Allison community who gave their lives for our freedom will be released on social media at 11 a.m. on November 11.

The Remembrance Day slideshow “Fallen of WWI” is also available on the Libraries and Archives website.

In collaboration with MtA Spiritual Care, we encourage students, faculty, and staff to engage with this important day and reflect on the traditions Mount Allison has upheld since 1919.

Members of the University community are also invited to attend the community Remembrance Day service hosted by the Sackville NB Legion Branch #26 at Convocation Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m.
