Campus Closure February 12–13 and Next Steps
The Mount Allison campus will remain closed on Thursday, February 12 and Friday, February 13. Campus will resume normal operations on Saturday, February 14.
While there is no indication of an ongoing threat, we recognize that this has been a stressful time for many members of our community. Closing campus for the remainder of the week will allow time for our community to pause and reset before resuming normal operations.
All academic classes, both in-person and online, are cancelled February 12 and February 13, with operations occurring remotely except for essential services continuing on campus.
Information regarding any required assignments, assessments or mid-term tests make up days will be shared by faculty with their classes once re-scheduling has been confirmed. Faculty are asked to provide flexibility and make alternative arrangements with their classes for any missed midterms, assessments, or assignment deadlines. Flexibility will also be provided to faculty needing additional time to submit mid-term grades where needed. The deadline for students to withdraw from courses without penalty will be extended.
Student residences will remain open and Dining Services will continue to operate. Operations will occur remotely, except for essential services.
As a reminder, Monday, Feb. 16 is a holiday and the University is closed, followed by the Winter Break from Feb. 17-20, where University offices will be open, but there will be no classes.
The safety and well-being of our community will continue to guide our actions. If at any time you feel unsafe, please contact Campus Security immediately at (506) 364-2228. More information on safety and security resources and procedures can be found on mta.ca/safe.
We recognize that situations like this can create uncertainty and anxiety. If you are feeling distressed, please know that support is available.
If you have any important information to share regarding the events of this week, we encourage you to reach out to a member of the administration. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as needed.
For immediate questions or concerns, please contact mtaalert@mta.ca.
Thank you for your care for one another during this time.
