1. What is your summer internship and what will you take away from this experience?

My internship is with the Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies in social media. The position actually began in January 2018 and continues until January 2018. I have learned a lot from being an intern and a student at the same time. A large take away for me as I fill both these roles is that it is solely up to me to prioritize and effectively organize my time. In both roles, I have deadlines to meet and must ensure that they are met.

2. What is the best thing about summer in Sackville?

The work I do for my internship is all online; therefore, I am not spending my summer in Sackville this year. However, my internship with the Ron Joyce Centre last summer allowed me to spend part of my summer in Sackville. It was great! The Sackville summer students connect even more and there are always organized events to attend. I miss it!

3. What are you involved in on campus?

I am on the Commerce Society Executive. For the 2017-2018 academic year, I was communications executive and for the 2018-2019 academic year I will be vice-president. I am really looking forward to more excellent events. For the last year, I was also involved with the Broken Bridge Brand, which is a clothing company that started in 2015 in the Ron Joyce Centre entrepreneurship class. In March, I participated in and won The Pitch on campus with my peer, Taryn MacMillan. The Pitch is a "Dragon's Den" style competition founded by three Commerce students. Our business idea was called "MTADrives"— it's a car-pooling application specifically designed for Mount Allison University students. It was such a rewarding learning experience that involved students in a wide variety of disciplines.

4. What are you looking forward to most about your final year at Mount A?

Over the last three years at Mount A, I have made incredible bonds with so many new friends. Mount A is such a tight knit and welcoming community and the Town of Sackville encourages that! I am looking forward to connecting with these people and at the same time learning more about myself.

5. What are your post-grad plans?

My plans for post grad are to continue my studies in marketing. Although I do love the small community in Sackville, I am hoping to continue my studies is a larger city in Canada.

Bonus Question: If you could give one piece of advice to first-year students, what would it be?

To get involved as soon as you can, but to also know that it is never too late to get involved.
