Position description
The Department of Music at Mount Allison University invites applications from candidates to teach a number of courses during the 2024-25 academic year. These are stipendiary (part-time) appointments. These courses will run in either the Fall (September to December 2024) or Winter (January to April 2025) terms and will be taught on the campus of Mount Allison University. Courses on offer may include the following:
MUSC 1221: Introduction to Music, Culture, and Context (Winter term)
MUSC 2151: Composition and Music Technology II (Winter term)
MUSC 3301: Vocal Pedagogy (either term)
MUSC 3121: Orchestration (either term)
MUSC 3991/4991: Special Topics (open topic/elective, either term; see note)*
Candidates should clearly indicate in their application materials which of the above courses they are applying for, and their scheduling preference if courses can be offered in either term. Course descriptions can be found at https://mta.ca/academic_calendar/23-24/Music.html
NOTE: Candidates are invited to submit proposals for elective courses at the 3rd or 4th year level on a topic in their area of specialization, suitable for either Bachelor of Music students and Music majors, or open to both Music and non-Music majors. Course proposals should include a proposed course title and short (1-2 paragraph) description of course content and method of evaluation.
Preference will be given to applicants with advanced degrees and/or diplomas in areas related to the courses for which they are applying, and an established record of successful teaching experience at the university level. Application materials should include a letter of interest, an up-to-date curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of at least three referees.
