Position description
Under the direction of the Manager of Campus Infrastructure and Utilities, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- To carry out assigned maintenance, repair, modification and installation of electrical systems, electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls wiring, electronic access circuits and network cabling.
- Operation of industrial and commercial equipment common to the trade
- To perform tasks and duties from ladders, staging, lifts and other high elevations
- Perform duties using products, methods and materials common to the trade
- Respond promptly to after-hours call-ins as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/skills
- Must possess a current and valid Province of New Brunswick Journeyman Electrical Certificate
- Physical condition relevant to performing the assignments outlined under " Nature of Work " and use of CSA approved safety equipment.
- An attitude that demonstrates a willingness to work effectively with campus community members, colleagues and students in a public service environment
Abilities:
- Ability to understand written and verbal instruction;
- Ability to consistently perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently;
- Ability to perform tasks related to assignments outlined under "nature of work" and to be able to recognize and deal effectively with trade related problems;
- Ability to complete a schedule when assigned;
- Ability to work effectively with campus community members, colleagues and students in a public service environment;
- Ability to be at work consistently and to perform duties consistently for the hours assigned with or without direct supervision.
