Position description

Under the direction of the Manager of Campus Infrastructure and Utilities, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • To carry out assigned maintenance, repair, modification and installation of electrical systems, electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls wiring, electronic access circuits and network cabling.     
  • Operation of industrial and commercial equipment common to the trade
  • To perform tasks and duties from ladders, staging, lifts and other high elevations
  • Perform duties using products, methods and materials common to the trade
  • Respond promptly to after-hours call-ins as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/skills

  • Must possess a current and valid Province of New Brunswick Journeyman Electrical Certificate
  • Physical condition relevant to performing the assignments outlined under " Nature of Work " and use of CSA approved safety equipment.
  • An attitude that demonstrates a willingness to work effectively with campus community members, colleagues and students in a public service environment

Abilities:          

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instruction;
  • Ability to consistently perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently;
  • Ability to perform tasks related to assignments outlined under "nature of work" and to be able to recognize and deal effectively with trade related problems;
  • Ability to complete a schedule when assigned;     
  • Ability to work effectively with campus community members, colleagues and students in a public service environment;
  • Ability to be at work consistently and to perform duties consistently for the hours assigned with or without direct supervision.
