Connecting the dots

Alumni Office working to develop new strategic plan

The Alumni Engagement Office is in the process of developing a strategic plan to grow alumni engagement and participation over the next three years.

Strategic planning is a regular and essential activity of the office and this plan is particularly timely. As we emerge from, what we hope, has been the most active part of the pandemic, we wanted to take a closer look at how we connect with alumni, as a University and as a community, and ensure we are doing this to best meet alumni needs.

An ad hoc committee was formed in early 2022, consisting of various Allisonians who specialize in communications, strategic consulting, information services, development, leadership, and most importantly are passionate about engaging as alumni.

This committee has met with various alumni groups and stakeholders to collect feedback on how the University can make MtA matter more to alumni. The meetings that were held during May and June provoked great conversations, and additional comments have been collected over email and through a survey circulated during Convocation Weekend.

With this information the Alumni Engagement Office intends to build a plan that will allow more opportunities for alumni to connect with each other and their alma mater. The full plan is expected to be completed later this summer.

Mount Allison aspires to be a dynamic, innovative liberal arts and science University whose alumni make an imprint on the changing world. We are focusing our attention on activities that are valued by alumni, which we hope will inspire alumni to engage as volunteers, mentors, and supporters.

We know we are fortunate to have so many engaged alumni, those who freely give their time, talent, and treasure to their alma mater. Thank you! Mount Allison would not be what it is today without you.
