CHARLES H. FAWCETT ('68)
Submitted by Anne French

Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late John and Mae Fawcett (Tapley). Charlie was an Industrial Engineer by trade, which led him to work at NBtel and NB power. He owned and operated Pro-Am Sports and established a prevalent windsurfing school based out of the Renforth cove. He loved teaching people to ski, and was an active ski instructor for over 40 years. Charlie loved being outdoors, he enjoyed performance cycling, skiing, snowboarding, and windsurfing. In his downtime, he enjoyed reading a good book and spending time with his family.

DOROTHY M. (BAXTER) MACLEOD ('54)
Submitted by Evelyn and Miriam MacLeod

Dorothy was a proud Allisonian who would bleed garnet and gold. Dorothy was part of a family legacy of Allisonians. Her father R.H. Baxter graduated in 1922. Her brothers Bob and Ted graduated in 1947 and 1948. Sister-in-law Jean (MacLeod) Schurman graduated in 1956. Daughters Evelyn (1983) and Miriam (1989) continued the tradition. When Dorothy graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics degree, she was educated for a career working as a dietician in hospitals, teaching nutrition, and a life of active service.

It was a highlight when she received the Charles Frederick Allison Award in 1996 and recognized as "an alumna extraordinaire".  Dorothy lived a life of volunteerism on PEI, playing an active role in many organizations focused on health, education, and preserving history.

She kept in contact with several friends and classmates for decades. Her daughter Miriam wrote, “It was inspiring to see the joy reunions brought, when the Class of '54 would let us ‘Hear Them Roar’ once again.”  Dorothy passed away on May 3, 2024, after a brief illness.

PHIL HENDERSON ('61)
Submitted by Caila Henderson ('12/'15)

The third of three Allisonian grad brothers (Robert '54, Ned '60) of Brookfield, NS, Phil died at 84 in Halifax, after a cardiac incident. Phil was a standout on the Mounties hockey and soccer teams, alongside his brother Ned, and fellow Brookfield Rural High grad, goaltender Lyle Bryson ('61). Phil followed Ned to NS Technical College, where they both graduated as Electrical Engineers. He worked at MT&T for 33 years, retiring as General Manager of Network Services. He was renowned there for his approachability, wisdom, patience, and willingness to assist co-workers, many of whom considered him a beloved mentor.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy, sons Peter, Mark, and Jay, and four grandchildren. He was a member of powerful Brookfield Elks hockey clubs (1956-1969) and on fastpitch teams that won Maritime Championships in 1963, 1967-68; and played on the Elks ball team that finished third in the Canadian Championships in 1971. He was an ardent supporter and Past President of the NS Special Olympics and the Telephone Pioneer Society.

He was an uncle to Mt. A grads Caila ('12) and Kyle Henderson ('15).
