Class of 2017 honoured at Last Lecture

Students from the Class of 2017 were recognized for their contributions with a variety of grad class awards

Students from the Class of 2017 were recognized for their contributions to the University and the Sackville community with a variety of grad class awards at the annual Last Lecture in March.

  • The Don Norton Memorial Award was awarded to Stephen Buckley, recognizing him as the male graduating student who has made the greatest overall contribution to university life
  • The Frances S. Allison Award went to Meghan McCracken and Shaelyn Sampson in recognition of their contributions as graduating female students
  • Outgoing Mount Allison Students’ Union Vice-President Academic Mary Emma MacNeil was recognized for her commitment to student involvement and engagement with the Charlie Hunter Award
  • Grad Class President Brooke Cheeks was recognized for her commitment to the greater Sackville community with the Gil Latter Memorial Award
  • Cydney Kane, Cat Bannon, Osama Al Nammary, and Maureen Adegbidi received Gold A Awards in recognition of their contributions to the Mount Allison community
  • Barritt-Marshall Award was awarded to Shenghe Liu (Seiwa Yanagi) of Japan for his contributions to the internationalization of campus and the greater Sackville community

This year’s Last Lecture saw the introduction of a new award — the Chris Metallic Prize in Indigenous Leadership.

  • Fine Arts student Emma Hassencahl and anthropology student Sarah Murphy were recognized for their contributions to the indigenization of campus
