Make Yourself at Home

Orientation welcomes the Class of 2021

First-year students were welcomed in style with a full Orientation Week.

Starting with International Orientation and Move-In Day, the week included perennial favourites such as the Karaoke BBQ and Mount Alympics, as well as important wellness presentations on topics like consent and responsible consumption. New this year was “What I Wish I Knew,” a panel discussion of upper-year students sharing what they wish they had known in first year.

“For this year’s Orientation Week, we focused on making it as informative as possible. Most of our programming was educational, and of course still fun and engaging, to make sure students were starting off right,” says Orientation Chair Natasha Kochhar (’18). “All of our events were so well attended! I think we really did stick to our theme and made people feel at home.”

Spencer Isaac (’17) was this year’s Commencement speaker, helping to launch the Year of Indigenous Action on campus, and the Town of Sackville hosted its annual Welcome Corn Boil at the Farmers’ Market.
