Biography

I aim to engage and inspire undergraduate students in the study of biochemistry while honing their quantitative and logical problem solving skills in BIOC 1001 Introductory Biochemistry.

My research program focusses on the molecular biology of the marine picocyanobacteria. In particular I have been focussing on the stoichiometries of the complexes of the photosynthetic apparatus in different strains grown under different conditions of temperature, light and nutrient levels and tying this data to the observed photo physiology. I also research the functional roles of small highly conserved proteins in the picocyanobacteria through a combination of molecular biological, proteomic and biochemical approaches.

I collaborate with the Mount Allison Phytoplankton Cluster, Sackville based company Environmental Proteomics NB Inc and AgriSera AB in Sweden.
