Emma Miller expected her vast extracurricular activity list would be limited with her transition to university. She’s found the opposite to be true at Mount Allison.

"Now that I’m here (at Mount Allison) I realize the perfect balance between extra-curricular activities, social life, and academics that this university has to offer," says the Fall River, NS resident.

Miller is the recipient of a Bell Achievement Award at Mount Allison, one of the University’s top entrance awards, valued at $36,000 over four years.

Miller is part of Mount Allison’s Global Brigades, which is travelling to Honduras in February 2016. Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Mount Allison Global Brigades was established in 2009 and now offers services in medical, dental, public health, water, and micro-finance.

She is also part of the Garnet and Gold Musical Theatre Society, an initiative she has continued since attending Lockview High School, playing the role of Liesl in The Sound of Music (2013), and the role of Annie in Annie (2015). Miller also served as co-president of her students’ council.

An active member of the NSSSA (Nova Scotia Secondary School Students’ Association), Miller is currently volunteering as the organization’s inclusion committee co-chair, planning a provincial leadership conference for high school students with special needs.
