Every August, Mount Allison hosts Preview MtA Day for incoming students and their families. The event is designed to help shorten your “to do” list by coming to campus early for Preview MtA Day.

Preview MtA Day is a full-day of information and services for new students and their families. Residences will be open for viewing, staff from the Registrar’s Office will be ready to help you with course registration questions, and Jennings Dining Hall will be open for a free lunch!  For a more complete picture of what we have planned, please refer to the schedule below.

Sessions

Session 1: You Are Here: Guide to Orientation 2016 (Location: The Pond, Wallace McCain Student Centre) 

This session will provide students and parents with everything they need to know about Orientation, including information about Move-In Day, an overview of the Orientation schedule and tips for how to make the most of your first few days on campus. Meghan McCraken, this year's Orientation Chair, will be happy to answer all your questions!

Session 2: Transitioning to University: academic tools and tips for a successful first year (Location: Gracie's Café, Wallace McCain Student Centre)

This presentation focuses on key issues to help you succeed academically in your first year of university. Sarah Kardash, Academic Advisor, will provide an overview of academic support & online resources, academic requirements & regulations, what to expect & what is expected of you.

Session 3: Financial Aid & Money Matters (Location: Tweedie Hall, Wallace McCain Student Centre)

Presented by Financial Aid of the Registrar's Office, this session will answer any questions you may have about financial planning, aid, bursaries and scholarships.

 

 Afternoon

  • Campus Tours (1:30pm / 2:15pm)
  • Academic Advising (available on a sign-up basis at the Registrar’s Office, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
  • Financial Aid (available on a sign-up basis at the Registrar's Office, Wallace McCain Student Centre)

All Day

  • Pick up your Mount Allison Student ID Card and mail key (Bookstore, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
  • Place a "Books on Beds" order or pick up your textbooks (Bookstore, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
  • Get help with course registration (Registrar’s Office, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
  • Pre-order/pay for your orientation welcome pack (Student Union Office, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
  • Learn more about the Student Union Health & Dental Insurance Plan (Student Union Office, Wallace McCain Student Centre)
