Position description

The Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Mount Allison University invites applications for a stipendiary (part-time) teaching position to teach “Gender and Science” (WGST 2201), a 2nd year undergraduate course. This course focuses on the relationship between scientific institutions and communities that are marginalized by gender, race, colonialism, class, disability, and other social markers. It explores the structural forces that contribute to exclusion and the effects of being seen as an object of scientific inquiry through feminist intersectional and decolonial approaches. Finally, this course addresses current efforts to create a more inclusive scientific community. The class size is approximately 35-45 students and is scheduled for the 2024 fall term (September - December).

The successful applicant will have a PhD (or ABD) in Women’s and Gender Studies or a closely-related field. Previous teaching experience in Women’s and Gender Studies or a closely-related field is strongly preferred.

We are open to different modes of course delivery, i.e., online-only, in-person only, or mixed-modes.

Please note that the program is also hiring part-time instructors for WGST 4001, WGST 4911, WGST-CANA 4301, and WGST 2991. Applicants are welcome to apply to teach more than one course and can specify the course(s) they are interested in on their cover letter.

Your application package must include the following: a cover letter describing your teaching experience and/or knowledge of the course subject matter, a curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of 3 references. Please send your application package to:
Dr. Leslie Kern, Chair of the Search Committee

The review of applications will begin May 20 and continue until the position is filled.
